About me

Eight years creating effective, engaging, professional websites

My name is Matthew Mitchell and I specialize in creating websites with visual flair that are user-friendly and built according to best-practice web standards. I also create corporate identity, branding, photography and graphic designs for the web.

I've been building websites since 2000 and freelancing for over two years and have enjoyed working with many wonderful clients including Integrative Health Center, Starosta Law, and Interior Innovations. See more clients.

Design philosophy

I specialize in designing creative websites that provide a great user experience and using best practices in terms of web standards and accessibility. I make sure whatever I design is engaging, human-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, clear, on-brand and usable.

Tools of choice

I like to use Dreamweaver, hand-coding each page using search engine optimised XHTML and CSS. For delicious visual design, I use Photoshop and Illustrator.

For data-driven websites, I use Cold Fusion. For CMS sites I use Joomla, the most powerful open-source CMS system on the Planet!

About this site

This site was built with a lot of love and care. Because I strongly believe in web standards, I chose to hand-code it in XHTML 1.0 Strict, with a layout and presentation done exclusively in CSS.

When I’m not working

I live in a leafy suburb of Kansas City with my lovely wife and my two beautiful, spirited kids. During downtime (what's that?), I spend my days lost in photography, music and art, playing with my family at the park and just enjoying this wonderful thing called life!
